In the model-driven software development (Model-Driven Engineering, shortly MDE in English) (semi-) formal models for the conception, design, creation and testing of software are used. These common modeling languages (such as the Unified Modeling Language), but also domain-specific languages (Domain Specific Languages, short DSL) are used in conjunction with code generators and interpreters. In this module students will learn about concepts, methods and tools of model-driven software development. Students are expected to be able to express requirements and formulate properties of software-intensive systems using different modeling languages and to use the respective models at the end of the course. The course provides a basic understanding of the use and the limits of application of model-driven software development in the general software development processes.
